two decently established screamo bands covering the same pop song? how different can they sound? honestly, not that different.
chunk! no, captain chunk!'s version is much simpler and less electronic. i think theirs is a little heavier too, but the band's original material is more on the pop punk side, and i would even go as far as saying that this is their heaviest song.
woe, is me's version has a lot going on. it's pretty heavy, but it wouldn't be that bad to play on a dance floor because they keep it pretty dancy. also, this track seems more "thick" than chunk!'s version because they have like no empty spaces in this song; there's always something going one without rest.
personally, i like chunk!'s version better, but i'm probably biased because they've been one of my favorite bands for about 2 or 3 years now. i'll talk about them more in the future.
lol i just heard the original for the first time.
For what its worth your bias has nothing to do with it, woe is me is my favorite band right now (I change a lot due to always finding something better lol usually more technical they went from avenged sevenfold-bfmv-for all those sleeping-attack attack-asking Alexandria-woe is me. And I don't think that's gonna change) but chunks version is far superior. Just in case you wanted an opinion from a woe is me fan. And can you tell me any other songs by chunk that are as heavy as, or close to, we r who we r?
ReplyDeletewow! i'm very surprised that somebody actually commented on this blog. i think that the beginning of their song, "we fell fast," is pretty heavy because of the contrast between one part and another. also, "born for adversity" is pretty heavy. be sure to listen to the album versions of the songs, not the ep versions because they use a lower tuning on the album. i like all of their songs, but they're really more of a pop punk band. they sound heavier live, but you just can't feel it through a youtube video. i hope i helped!
